Business Continuity

24 July 2013 - 10:35 AM

Business continuity?

As a provider of support services have you needed to develop a business continuity plan?

Either for your own requirements or, most likely, as an aspect of a contract or local authority procurement process, its a plan of what to do to ensure your business continues in the face of emergency incidents?

Do you have a written policy or an intuitive approach to what would happen in case of flooding, a petrol shortage, illness of yourself or staff, loss of utilities such as water or electricity etc.?

Have you develop something yourself, do you know of a great resource to help with this or do you manage knowing you will cope with these inherently unpredictable incidents as and when they occur?

I would be really interested in peoples’ views on this.

  • Do you feel a plan is needed is needed?
  • If you have been asked for something has this been proportionate to your scale of operation or just far too much?
  • What is your best tactic in the event of an emergency or incident?
  • Do you have examples of when you have needed or used such a plan?

Get in touch directly or leave a message here...

Regards

Simon

Commissioning And Micro-Enterprise Providers

08 July 2013 - 10:03 AM

Have you seen our recent publication on commissioning and micro-enterprise providers.

Its pointing toward how things could be done and indicates where some people are getting it right despite so much working against the small provider.

When the Care Bill becomes law, commissioners will have a duty to promote a range of services that meet local people’s needs. This won’t be easy with tightening budgets and the drive to commission services ‘efficiently’, which many areas have seen in terms of having fewer contracts to manage. In addition, councils will have duties to support the development of preventative services and to help individuals to use Direct Payments and personal budgets to purchase support which is of their choosing.

Shared Lives Plus, supported by the Department of Health and endorsed by sector partnership Think Local Act Personal, has produced “Commissioning for Provider Diversity – A Guide”, which will help councils commission in a way which gets better value for money through having a wide range of local services, not just a few large contracts

Payroll And Real Time Information

08 February 2013 - 10:36 AM

Do you run payroll and are you ready for the changes to Real Time Information?

From 6 April 2013 employers will have to start reporting PAYE information to HMRC in real time. You may see this referred to as Real Time Information - or RTI. This means that employers (or their accountant, bookkeeper or payroll bureau) will have to:

• send details to HMRC every time they pay an employee, at the time they pay them

• use payroll software to send this information electronically as part of their routine payroll process

Maybe you use a payroll service. Do you feel you get value for money? Share your experience with us or ask a question which might help you and other with the changes.
